The surge continues to work so well

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080728/ap_o n_re_mi_ea/iraq

The surge keeps working and it worked again this morning, but don't tell it to the 57 people who were killed in Bagdad and Kirkuk today by suicide bombers who apparently weren't told how the surge has made Iraq a much safer place. Don't tell it to the 300 who were wounded. Some may never walk or see again, but at least they know they will be living in a nice, safe Iraq thanks to folks like George Bush and John McCain who made life better for them with a surge.

One wounded Iraq resident seemed to sum up his feelings about the surge quite vividly: "I heard women and children crying and shouting and I saw burned women as dead bodies lied in pools of blood on the street," Mustapha Abdullah, a 32-year-old man who was injured in the stomach and legs, said from the hospital where he was being treated.

After the explosion the surge continued to highlight all the progress it has caused in Iraq when dozens of angry Kurds opened fire on the offices of a Turkomen political party, which opposes Kurdish claims on Kirkuk.

Elsewhere in Iraq, the surge continued to show-off it's achievements as a roadside bomb attack on Monday killed four civilians near Balad Ruz, 45 miles northeast of Baghdad, police said.

So all I can say is thank you John McCain for the surge. You have so proven you were right, when so many others were wrong.

This is happening every week. Every week dozens are being killed in "incidents" but they are not getting the attention. By surging another 30,000 troops into Iraq and putting 120,000 insurgents of various persuasions on the payroll all we've done is put a lid on a simmering pot. The problem hasn't gone away.

Sadly, it isn't about one incident.  If the monthly total of dead is down by one, they'll call it a monumental success.  These aren't people to McCain.  They're numbers.

No way. No how. No McCain.

There will be few images as Iraq remains unsafe for journalists...
